Jimmy Beans Wool
Owned by @laurazander, Doug, and Huck Zander. Jimmy Beans Wool is a Local Yarn Store...in Reno & Online!
At the downturn of the dotcom boom, former Silicon Valley engineers Laura and Doug Zander moved to the mountains and opened up a tiny yarn shop in Truckee, California. Jimmy, as Laura is lovingly known, sold coffee alongside the wool (hence the Beans in the name) and Jimmy Beans Wool was born. In 2004, the company settled down in Reno, Nevada where they reside today. They occupy an expansive 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse, are considered one of the country's leading destination yarn shops, employ 35 team members, and have built a loyal following and impressive online presence.
Along with yarn, Jimmy Beans also provides consumers the most innovative crafting products and accessories, acquiring della Q in the spring of 2019, a beloved company amongst knitters, crocheters, and makers. Della Q sells popular designer handbags, project totes, organizers, accessories, and more. Jimmy Beans will continue to develop products under their patented Jimmy's SmartStix, plus hooks, needles, and notions. Jimmy Beans also acquired Madelinetosh, a staple in the hand-dyed yarn market, in late 2019.
In addition to having a competitive selection of yarns and tools, Jimmy Beans has an extensive group of monthly clubs, such as Blanket, Shawl, and Accessory club. They also have loads of fun developing “Just at Jimmy’s” products, fun knitterly & crocheterly kits and projects throughout the year that makers can’t find anywhere else.
One of the best parts? If you visit Jimmy Beans Wool in person in their Reno, storefront, you have the chance to win it big on their one-of-a-kind yarn slot or claw machines!
