Shoreham Knitting
Situated in a pretty seaside town, a stone’s throw from the River Adur and the sea, a historic building in Shoreham-by-Sea is home to Shoreham Knitting and Needlecraft, the first independent yarn store in the UK to stock Rowan yarns.
Owner Monica Hardman began her business with a club for machine knitters in 1972. Seven years after opening her first machine knitting shop in 1976, she expanded into the historic three-storey home of Shoreham Knitting and Needlecraft and began selling handknit yarns. The store is a treasure trove for Rowan fans, carrying the full range, and has every Rowan magazine from issue 1 to 68, providing a one-stop shop and reference archive to boot! The building dates to the 17th century but was rebuilt in 1919. This charming building is also the home of English Yarns, the shop’s website, which was established in 1997. Monica and the team have a wealth of brand knowledge and expertise which they delight in sharing with their customers in store and also all over the world.
